Wenatchee squeaks by Fairbanks, 3-2Big Dipper Ice Arena Sat, Oct 06, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Wenatchee Wild and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Wenatchee emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jono Davis at 11:39 of the third period. The Wild were led by Davis, who registered one goal and one assist. Wenatchee put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fairbanks to score on any of its three power plays. The Wild's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.3 shots per game they average. Wenatchee also got points from Noah Nelson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Wenatchee also got a goal from Nicholas Kuchera as well. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from David Powlowski, Chris Kerr, Jacob Barber, and Max McHugh, who contributed one a piece. The Ice Dogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Fairbanks put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.2 it averages per game. The Ice Dogs were helped by Jacob Hetz, who finished with one goal. Hetz scored 11:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fairbanks. Duggie Lagrone provided the assist. Garret Clemment also scored for Fairbanks. More assists for Fairbanks came via Doug Rose, Kyle Lee, and Zack Rall, who each chipped in one. Evan McCarthy rejected 25 shots on goal for Wenatchee. The Wild incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Fairbanks' Steve Perry stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Ice Dogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
