Austin downs Aberdeen, 6-3

John Simonson tallied one point to lead the Austin Bruins to a 6-3 victory over the Aberdeen Wings.

In the losing effort, Aberdeen was paced by Heinz Koster, who had two goals. Koster scored the first of his two goals at 17:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Austin. Tyler Cisar picked up the assist. Koster's next tally made the score 3-2 Austin with 16:36 left in the third period. Zach Kraft provided the assist.

Austin stifled the Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Austin has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Austin also got points from Chris Fischer, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Austin included Rohdes Dolan, who had one and Scott Nelson, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Michael Bond, Jay Dickman, Brandon Wahlin, and Riley Colvard, who each chipped in one and Jake Flynn, Cody Dixon, and CJ Smith, who contributed two a piece.

Aberdeen also got a goal from Jordan Heller as well. More assists for Aberdeen came via Kyle Haak, who had two and Michael Prochno and Peter Krieger, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins' Nicholas Lehr stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Austin totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Paige Skoog took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Marcus Zelzer who made zero saves. Aberdeen totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
