Brookings squeaks by Coulee Region, 4-2Larson Ice Center Red Sat, Oct 06, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brookings Blizzard gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Coulee Region Chill. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Micah Ranum's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Thomas Williams had a great game for Brookings, netting two goals. Williams found the back of the net 19:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brookings and again while 19:50 into the third to make the score 4-2 Brookings. The Blizzard excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Brookings also got a goal from Craig Lindegard as well. In addition, Brookings received assists from Justin Moody, Jordan Stejskal, and Eric Brenk, who contributed one a piece. Coulee Region was helped by Hunter Anderson, who had one goal. Anderson scored 6:05 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Andy Faust provided the assist. Coulee Region additionally got points from Sean Lang, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Coulee Region came via Cory Lushanko and Travis Underwood, who each chipped in one. Brookings' Erick Majerle stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Blizzard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Blake Cates made 26 saves for the Chill on 29 shots. Coulee Region incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
