Yim's goals lift Port Huron to 4-1 victory over Kalamazoo

McMorran Arena - Main    Sat, Sep 29, 2012

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons relied on the scoring touch of Bryan Yim, who netted two goals, to beat the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, 4-1.

Yim's tallies came at 11:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Huron and 7:02 into the third to make the score 2-1 Port Huron.

Kalamazoo was stymied by Port Huron netminder Max Milosek, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Milosek managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.23 prior to the game.

The Fighting Falcons put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.8 they average per game.

Brett DAndrea also scored for Port Huron. More assists for Port Huron came via Vito Aluia, who had two and Mitch Maloney, Matthew Uvodich, and Mark Evan Auk, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. K-Wings forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14.0 minutes per game Kalamazoo had been spending in the box. The Jr. K-Wings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Port Huron power plays. Kalamazoo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. K-Wings put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game.

Kalamazoo was led by Robbie Payne, who scored the team's only goal. Payne scored on the power play 2:47 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Jr. K-Wings had taken the advantage when Port Huron's Yim got sent off for tripping. Cameron Heath picked up the assist.

The Fighting Falcons ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Alex Okicki made 34 saves for Kalamazoo on 38 shots. The Jr. K-Wings registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Kalamazoo, Jacob McDowell was ejected from the game.
