Amarillo blows out Odessa, 5-1

The Amarillo Bulls had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Amarillo was led by Mike Davis, who racked up one goal. Davis scored 1:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. Sam Johnson assisted on the tally.

The Bulls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Odessa power plays. By firing 39 shots on goal, Amarillo exceeded the 32.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Others who scored for Amarillo included Tyler Deresky, who had two and Gage Christianson and Clint Carlisle, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amarillo came via Connor Frey, Geoff Fortman, Brady Ferguson, Conor ONeil, Ryan Cole, and Joe Grabowski, who contributed one a piece.

Odessa excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Jackalopes were led by Mason Wyman, who scored the team's only goal. Wyman scored 6:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Amarillo. Dylan Campbell picked up the assist.

Paul Berrafato rejected 22 shots on goal for the Bulls. Amarillo ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Odessa's Blake Wojtala stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Jackalopes ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
