Janesville uses shootout to best Kenai River, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Janesville Jets defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Kenai River got a shootout goal from Eric Shand. In addition to the clincher, Janesville got a shootout goal from Austin Vieth.

The Jets came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Janesville was down 2-1 after a power play goal by the Brown Bears' Jacob Davidson at 13:20 in the second period. The Jets knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Conor Lemirande at 5:05 in the third period.

Janesville also got a goal from Bryan Kronberger as well. In addition, Janesville received assists from Jason Ford and Matt Salituro, who each chipped in one.

Kenai River's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Janesville power plays.

The Brown Bears were led by Lucas Kohls, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kohls scored 8:38 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Vincent Stefan picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kenai River were Matt Seidel, who had one.

Brock Kautz made 28 saves for Janesville on 30 shots. The Jets ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Gustaf Johansson recorded 14 saves for Kenai River. The Brown Bears totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
