Weigman leads Brookings to shutout victory over Aberdeen

Drew Weigman was superb between the pipes for the Brookings Blizzard, as he did not allow a goal in a 2-0 victory over the Aberdeen Wings.

Brookings was sparked by Nick DeCenzo, who registered one goal and one assist. DeCenzo scored 9:53 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brookings. Justin Moody assisted on the tally.

The Blizzard stifled Aberdeen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brookings was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Blizzard allow 2.5 goals per game. The 35 shots that Brookings put on net surpassed the Blizzard's average of 29.4 shots per game this season.

Brookings also got a goal from Brandon Parker as well. In addition, Brookings received assists from Thomas Williams and Cody Marooney, who contributed one a piece.

The Wings' offense operated below they season average. Aberdeen puts an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game. The defense for the Wings played an important role offensively, racking up 15 shots on goal. Aberdeen put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.9 it averages per game.

The Wings were led by Mike Parnell, who took six shots.

Weigman recorded 37 saves for Brookings. The Blizzard incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Marcus Zelzer made 33 saves for Aberdeen on 35 shots. The Wings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
