Bismarck downs Fresno, 2-1

VFW Sports Center    Fri, Sep 21, 2012

Joe Giordano finished with one point to lead the Bismarck Bobcats to a 2-1 victory over the Fresno Monsters.

Bismarck stifled Fresno's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Bismarck also got a goal from Sam Coborn as well. More assists for Bismarck came via Adam Knochenmus, Bob Kinne, and Shane Omdahl, who contributed one a piece.

The Monsters put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bobcats to score on any of their five power plays. Fresno relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Kyle Sucher, Zack Holstrom and Mikhail Bushinski took 12 of the team's 21 shots. The Monsters' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with nine shots between them.

In addition, Fresno received assists from Mitchell Snyder, who had one.

Bismarck's Bryan Nies stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Bobcats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Macauley Haight made 25 saves for Fresno on 27 shots. The Monsters incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
