Topeka's Gaffney deadly on offense in 5-2 win against BismarckSchwan SR-1 Sat, Sep 15, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Sean Gaffney had two goals to lead the Topeka RoadRunners to a 5-2 victory over the Bismarck Bobcats. Gaffney found the back of the net 19:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Topeka and again while 18:34 into the third to make the score 5-2 Topeka.Topeka managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The RoadRunners wound up below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Topeka also got points from Cam Bleck, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Topeka also got a goal from Michal Pastor as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Collin Montgomery, who had two and Jake Kamrass and Tyler Poulsen, who each chipped in one. Bismarck was helped by Patrick Moore, who tallied one goal. Moore scored 9:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Topeka. Sam Coborn picked up the assist. Johno May also scored for Bismarck. In addition, Bismarck received assists from Levi Blom and Cory Chapman, who contributed one a piece. Mackenzie Sawyer recorded 18 saves for Topeka. The RoadRunners registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Anders Franke made 18 saves for the Bobcats on 22 shots. Bismarck incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
