Amarillo holds on for 3-2 win against SpringfieldSchwan SR-1 Sat, Sep 15, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amarillo Bulls survived a determined comeback attempt by the Springfield Jr. Blues on the way to a 3-2 win. A goal by Ryan Cole put Amarillo up 3-1 in the third period, but Springfield pulled to within one on Trevor Stone's tally 18:17 into the third period. The Bulls were paced by Cole, who finished with one goal. Cole scored 21 seconds into the third period to make the score Amarillo. TJ Sarcona assisted on the tally. Omar Mullan also scored for Amarillo. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Kent Sherrer, who had two and Connor Frey, Gage Christianson, and TJ Sherman, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Blues stifled Amarillo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Springfield failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 22 pucks on goal after averaging 29.6 shots per game this season. Springfield also got points from James McGing, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Springfield came via Jack Sloan and Cody Dixon, who each chipped in one. Collin Delia made 20 saves for the Bulls on 22 shots. Amarillo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Matt Leon rejected 25 shots on goal for the Jr. Blues. Springfield incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
