Port Huron vanquishes Amarillo in shootout, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Huron Fighting Falcons defeated the Amarillo Bulls in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams.

Port Huron overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Fighting Falcons trailed 1-0 after a goal by Amarillo's Omar Mullan at 16:42 in the first period. Port Huron tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Kody Polin at 7:50 in the third period.

The Bulls were stymied by the Fighting Falcons netminder Max Milosek, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. Milosek certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.16 entering the contest.

Port Huron's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Amarillo power plays. The Fighting Falcons were below their usual level of shot production, taking 20 shots compared to the 28.4 Port Huron averages.

More assists for Port Huron came via Ryan Nick and Ian Miller, who each chipped in one.

Amarillo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Fighting Falcons were unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and Amarillo eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were Hampus Gustafsson and James Bonaguro, who contributed one a piece.

Port Huron incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Bulls' Paul Berrafato stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Amarillo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
