Jamestown outlasts Minot, 3-2Schwan SR-1 Thu, Sep 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Jamestown Ironmen and the Minot Minotauros was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Jamestown emerged with a 3-2 win. The Ironmen gained the winning advantage on a goal by Luc Gerdes 3:37 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Gerdes had two goals and one assist to lead Jamestown. Gerdes scored the first of his two goals at 1:00 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Gerdes' next tally made the score 3-2 Jamestown with 16:23 left in the third period. The Ironmen earned a power play opportunity when Mason Morelli was put in the box for tripping. Victor Johansson picked up the assist. With 37 shots on target during the contest, Jamestown exceeded the 29.5 shots it averages per game this year. Joe Mottiqua also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Kenny Curtis, who had one. Minot put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.0 it averages per game. The Minotauros were helped by Tim Donohue, who registered one goal. Donohue scored 14:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jadin Martin provided the assist. Minot also got a goal from Cameron Rowat as well. More assists for Minot came via Denis Dalidovich, Lucas Oliver, and Jake Clifford, who contributed one a piece. Reid Mimmack made 28 saves for the Ironmen on 30 shots. Jamestown incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Ironmen, Payden Mielke was ejected from the game. Ben Myers rejected 34 shots on goal for Minot. The Minotauros incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
