Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Aberdeen Wings defeated the Wichita Falls Wildcats in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Aberdeen also got a shootout goal from Erik Baskin.The Wings kept Wichita Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Cowley made 28 saves on 31 shots. Aberdeen was helped by Joseph Sullivan, who tallied one goal. Sullivan scored 16:43 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Aberdeen. Justin Parizek assisted on the tally. Aberdeen also got points from Peter Krieger, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Mike Parnell, who had one. By firing 42 shots on goal, the Wildcats exceeded the 24.6 shots they average per game this year. Wichita Falls was helped by Kyle Bauman, who registered one goal. Bauman scored 2:36 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Eliot Grauer picked up the assist. Wichita Falls also got a goal from Ryan Dau as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Will Vosejpka, who had one. Marcus Zelzer rejected 40 shots on goal for the Wings. Aberdeen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Wildcats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
