Davis lifts Amarillo over Austin, 5-2

Mike Davis had two goals to lead the Amarillo Bulls to a 5-2 victory over the Austin Bruins.

Davis scored at 15:27 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 1:28 into the third to make the score 3-2 Amarillo.

Amarillo took advantage of Austin's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The Bulls put 43 shots on net during the contest, more than the 30.0 they average per game.

Amarillo also got points from Connor Frey, who also registered one goal and one assist. Amarillo also got a goal from Ryan Cole as well. More assists for Amarillo came via TJ Sarcona, who had three.

With 15 shots on target during the contest, the Bruins exceeded the 11.5 shots they average per game this year.

Austin was helped by Brandon Wahlin, who finished with one goal. Wahlin scored on the power play 49 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Austin. Joey Caprio assisted on the tally. Austin additionally got points from AJ Reid, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Josh Bretner and Jake Flynn, who each chipped in one.

Paul Berrafato recorded 13 saves for Amarillo. The Bulls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bruins' Nicholas Lehr stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Austin incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
