Wenatchee uses early goal to top Springfield, 6-4Schwan SR-1 Wed, Sep 12, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild took the lead against the Springfield Jr. Blues in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 6-4 victory. Dylan Abood provided Wenatchee with the game-winning tally when he scored 7:56 into the the first period. Jono Davis assisted on the tally.Joshua Hartley was all over the ice for the Wild, as he racked up two goals in the win. Hartley scored at 4:57 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wenatchee and again while on the power play 18:22 into the third to make the score 6-4 Wenatchee. Wenatchee put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield to score on any of its four power plays. By firing 30 shots on goal, the Wild exceeded the 24.5 shots they average per game this year. Wenatchee's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring five goals and taking 13 shots. Chris Jones also scored for Wenatchee. More assists for Wenatchee came via Chris Diver, Nathan Flynn, and Max McHugh, who each chipped in one and Noah Nelson and Blake Roubos, who contributed two a piece. The Jr. Blues relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Mike Fazio, Brett Skibba and Trevor Stone took 13 of the team's 25 shots. Springfield also got a goal from Theo Tydingco as well. In addition, Springfield received assists from Tom Cooney, who had three and James McGing and Alex Baskakov, who each chipped in one. The Wild's Robert Nichols stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Wenatchee incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryan Kellenberger recorded 24 saves for Springfield. The Jr. Blues incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
