Durgan's goals lift Lansing Capitals 18U to 3-1 victory over San Jose Jr Sharks 18U

Lansing Capitals 18U relied on the scoring touch of Conor Durgan, who netted two goals, to beat San Jose Jr Sharks 18U, 3-1.

Durgan scored at 8:43 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Lansing Capitals 18U and again while 9:37 into the third to make the score 3-1 Lansing Capitals 18U.

Lansing Capitals 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Lansing Capitals 18U forced San Jose Jr Sharks 18U goalie Sean Tannenbaum to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Lansing Capitals 18U also got a goal from Zac DeSimpelare as well. More assists for Lansing Capitals 18U came via Camren Jorgensen, who had two and Mitchell Shier, Zachary Roberts, and Ethan Stafford, who each chipped in one.

San Jose Jr Sharks 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lansing Capitals 18U to score on any of its six power plays.

San Jose Jr Sharks 18U was led by Joshua Vaughan, who scored the team's only goal. Vaughan scored 11:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 San Jose Jr Sharks 18U.

Matthew Macinnis made 23 saves for Lansing Capitals 18U on 24 shots. Lansing Capitals 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tannenbaum rejected 31 shots on goal for San Jose Jr Sharks 18U. San Jose Jr Sharks 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
