Atlanta Fire 18U falls to Omaha AAA 18U after surprising comeback

Omaha AAA 18U climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat Atlanta Fire 18U, 4-3.

Omaha AAA 18U never led in the game until netting the game winner. Omaha AAA 18U was down 2-0 after a goal by Atlanta Fire 18U's Brysen ONeil at 33 seconds in the second period. Omaha AAA 18U knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Brett Becker at 16:28 in the second period. Omaha AAA 18U scored the game winner at 11:26 in the third period on a goal by Becker.

Becker had two goals and one assist to lead Omaha AAA 18U. Becker scored the first of his two goals at 12:26 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Becker's next tally made the score with 3:32 left in the second period. Ondrej Valo picked up the assist.

Omaha AAA 18U kept Atlanta Fire 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Stack made 35 saves on 39 shots.

Omaha AAA 18U also got a goal from Christian Cuozzo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Omaha AAA 18U were Rodmon Nikrovan, George Gruber, and Alex Arnold, who each chipped in one.

Atlanta Fire 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Omaha AAA 18U power plays.

Atlanta Fire 18U was helped by Alex Sauer, who racked up one goal. Sauer scored short handed 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta Fire 18U. Atlanta Fire 18U found itself down a man on Ben Goodwin's tripping. Kinean Badger assisted on the tally. Atlanta Fire 18U also got points from ONeil, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Chris Timm, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Atlanta Fire 18U received assists from Gregory Johnson, who had one.

Vladyslav Slyusarchuk recorded 23 saves for Omaha AAA 18U. Omaha AAA 18U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Atlanta Fire 18U incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
