Pikes Peak Miners 18U vanquishes Omaha AAA 18U in shootout, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pikes Peak Miners 18U defeated Omaha AAA 18U in a shootout 4-3.

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Omaha AAA 18U's shootout goals were scored by Parker Grass and Alex Arnold. Pikes Peak Miners 18U also got shootout goals from Derek Famula and Nicholas Bower.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pikes Peak Miners 18U was down 3-1 after a goal by Omaha AAA 18U's Arnold at 1:08 in the third period. Pikes Peak Miners 18U knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Famula at 13:24 in the third period.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U stifled Omaha AAA 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U was helped by Quinton Vitek, who racked up one goal. Vitek scored 7:30 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Omaha AAA 18U. Luc Gradisar assisted on the tally. Connor Hutchins also scored for Pikes Peak Miners 18U. More assists for Pikes Peak Miners 18U came via Gustav Wollenzien, Will Matheson, and Jackson Barliant, who contributed one a piece.

Omaha AAA 18U also got a goal from Brett Becker as well. In addition, Omaha AAA 18U received assists from George Gruber, Doss Allen, and Braiden Miller, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Kowalski recorded 16 saves for Pikes Peak Miners 18U. Pikes Peak Miners 18U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Shaun Healy made 25 saves for Omaha AAA 18U on 28 shots. Omaha AAA 18U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
