Indiana Jr. Ice 18U survives Pursuit of Excellence 18U comeback, wins 4-3

Indiana Jr. Ice 18U survived a determined comeback attempt by Pursuit of Excellence 18U on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Evan Okeley put Indiana Jr. Ice 18U up 4-2 in the second period, but Pursuit of Excellence 18U pulled to within one on Mark OShaughnessy's tally 8:19 into the third period.

Okeley had two goals to lead Indiana Jr. Ice 18U to victory.

Indiana Jr. Ice 18U managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Indiana Jr. Ice 18U ended up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Indiana Jr. Ice 18U forced Pursuit of Excellence 18U goalie Cody Porter to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

Indiana Jr. Ice 18U also got a goal from Miroslav Poner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Indiana Jr. Ice 18U were Anthony Passarelli and Matt Corbett, who each chipped in one and Drew Doyon and Razmuz Waxin-Engback, who contributed two a piece.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Fabio Arnold also scored for Pursuit of Excellence 18U. More assists for Pursuit of Excellence 18U came via Jordan Kawaguchi, who had two and Matthew Lueken, Nick Kovacik, and Brandon Duhaime, who each chipped in one.

Reid Simpson recorded 15 saves for Indiana Jr. Ice 18U. Indiana Jr. Ice 18U registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Pursuit of Excellence 18U's Porter stopped 49 shots out of the 53 that he faced. Pursuit of Excellence 18U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
