Lansing Capitals 18U uses shootout to best Omaha AAA Lancers 18U, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Lansing Capitals 18U defeated Omaha AAA Lancers 18U in a shootout 4-3.

The two teams needed 15 turns to complete the shootout.

Lansing Capitals 18U saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Lansing Capitals 18U made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Tyler Bishop at 8:14 in the third period. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Brett Becker at 12:35 in the third period.

Lansing Capitals 18U took advantage of Omaha AAA Lancers 18U's penalties, tallying three goals off of four power play opportunities.

Lansing Capitals 18U was led by Ryan Polin, who tallied one goal and one assist. Polin scored on the power play 10:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lansing Capitals 18U. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Ryan Cagnoni had put Lansing Capitals 18U on the power play. Camren Jorgensen assisted on the tally. Lansing Capitals 18U also got a goal from Andrew Carreras as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lansing Capitals 18U were Zac DeSimpelare, Brad Reitter, and Ethan Stafford, who each chipped in one.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U kept Lansing Capitals 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Macinnis made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Omaha AAA Lancers 18U was helped by Tristyn Sabina, who finished with one goal. Sabina scored 7:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lansing Capitals 18U. Parker Grass also scored for Omaha AAA Lancers 18U. More assists for Omaha AAA Lancers 18U came via Ryan Fretwell, Alex Arnold, and Ondrej Valo, who contributed one a piece.

Lansing Capitals 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Shaun Healy made 23 saves for Omaha AAA Lancers 18U on 26 shots. Omaha AAA Lancers 18U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
