West Michigan Hounds 18U rides Kuznetsov to victory over Pursuit of Excellence 18U, 4-1

West Michigan Hounds 18U relied on the sparkling performance of Philip Kuznetsov in net to grab a 4-1 win against Pursuit of Excellence 18U.

West Michigan Hounds 18U was sparked by Michael Wood, who racked up one goal and one assist. Wood scored 9:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 West Michigan Hounds 18U. Alex Bjork assisted on the tally.

West Michigan Hounds 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pursuit of Excellence 18U to score on any of its four power plays.

West Michigan Hounds 18U also had goals scored by Brandon Wolfe, who had one and Collin Finkhouse, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan Hounds 18U were Caleb Breithaupt, who had one and Tyler Pritt, who had two.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three West Michigan Hounds 18U power plays.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U was led by Nick Kovacik, who scored the team's only goal. Kovacik scored 3:30 into the third period to make the score 3-1 West Michigan Hounds 18U. Chaz Reddekopp picked up the assist.

Kuznetsov recorded 25 saves for West Michigan Hounds 18U. West Michigan Hounds 18U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cody Porter made 21 saves for Pursuit of Excellence 18U on 24 shots. Pursuit of Excellence 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
