Lupo's big game bests Pursuit of Excellence 18U in 6-3 St. Louis Selects 18U win

Behind a great game by Joey Lupo, who had one goal and two assists, St. Louis Selects 18U defeated Pursuit of Excellence 18U, 6-3.

Lupo beat Cameron Smith with a shot 9:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Louis Selects 18U. Seth Cooper assisted on the tally. Lupo dished an assist on Parker Stevens' goal that made the score 2-0 St. Louis Selects 18U at 7:54 into the first period. He added another helper on Tyler Gilleland's goal that made the score 6-3 St. Louis Selects 18U at 16:18 into the third period.

St. Louis Selects 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pursuit of Excellence 18U to score on any of its three power plays. St. Louis Selects 18U kept Pursuit of Excellence 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Smith made 28 saves on 34 shots. St. Louis Selects 18U's goal total was higher than its season average.
