Texas Tornado 18U uses early goal to top Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U, 3-1

Connor Colombe scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Texas Tornado 18U held off the challenges of Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U in a tough 3-1 win.

Colombe provided Texas Tornado 18U with the game-winning tally when he scored 10:12 into the the first period. Connor Horowitz assisted on the tally.

Texas Tornado 18U's penalty kill excelled, as Texas Tornado 18U gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Texas Tornado 18U was led by Colombe, who had one goal.

Texas Tornado 18U stifled Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Texas Tornado 18U also got points from Chris Beck, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Austin Murray also scored for Texas Tornado 18U. In addition, Texas Tornado 18U received assists from Tommy Dierl, who had one.

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Texas Tornado 18U to score on any of its eight power plays. Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes.

Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U was led by Joe Bender, who scored the team's only goal. Bender scored 6:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Trevor Recktenwald provided the assist.

Troy LoBue recorded 19 saves for Texas Tornado 18U. Texas Tornado 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U's Cameron Langham stopped 14 shots out of the 17 that he faced.
