St. Louis Selects 18U vanquishes New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U in shootout, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as St. Louis Selects 18U defeated New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U got a shootout goal from Nikita Samoylov. St. Louis Selects 18U also got a shootout goal from Joey Lupo.

St. Louis Selects 18U's Curtis Vitale was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 38 saves and let only one puck past him. Vitale managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.33 prior to the game.

St. Louis Selects 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U to score on any of its six power plays. St. Louis Selects 18U forced New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U goalie Christopher DAlessio to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.
