Pikes Peak Miners 18U outlasts San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U, 5-3

Pikes Peak Miners 18U and San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Pikes Peak Miners 18U made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U gained the winning advantage on a goal by Connor Hutchins 9:05 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Will Matheson was all over the ice for Pikes Peak Miners 18U, as he tallied two goals in the win. Matheson scored on the power play at 7:11 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and again while 10:51 into the third to make the score 4-2 Pikes Peak Miners 18U.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U's power play was ineffective against Pikes Peak Miners 18U's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
