Pursuit of Excellence 16U uses shootout to best Atlanta Fire 16U, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pursuit of Excellence 16U defeated Atlanta Fire 16U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U stifled Atlanta Fire 16U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U was led by Austin Anselmo, who tallied one goal. Anselmo scored on the power play 13:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Pursuit of Excellence 16U had taken the advantage when Atlanta Fire 16U's Brent Sweeney got sent off for roughing. Devon Becker picked up the assist.

Atlanta Fire 16U's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities.

Atlanta Fire 16U was led by Dillon Steh, who scored the team's only goal. Steh scored 13:37 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Chase Pearson provided the assist.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U's Joseph Mcleod stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Pursuit of Excellence 16U registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Evan Moyse made 18 saves for Atlanta Fire 16U on 19 shots. Atlanta Fire 16U incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
