Lansing Capitals 16U wins tough contest against St. Louis Selects 16U, 3-2

Lansing Capitals 16U and St. Louis Selects 16U were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Lansing Capitals 16U made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Sean Smalley at 13:18 of the third period.

Lansing Capitals 16U was led by Smalley, who grabbed one goal.

Nathan Rieman also scored for Lansing Capitals 16U. More assists for Lansing Capitals 16U came via Keegan Weckesser, Alexander Desautel, Timothy Sharky, Austin Robbins, Luc Wright, and Ronald Hein, who each chipped in one.

St. Louis Selects 16U did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 12 saves.

St. Louis Selects 16U was helped by Tyler Hoffmann, who finished with one goal. Hoffmann scored 2:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis Selects 16U. Travis Barrett picked up the assist. St. Louis Selects 16U also got a goal from Ryan Derousse as well. In addition, St. Louis Selects 16U received assists from Trevor Johnson, Collin George, and Shane Quinn, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Wagner made 12 saves for Lansing Capitals 16U on 14 shots. Lansing Capitals 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
