Wilson leads Georgetown to shutout victory over Mississauga

Keegan Wilson recorded a shutout against the Mississauga Chargers as the Georgetown Raiders picked up a 7-0 win.

Georgetown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Mississauga power plays. The Raiders' defense was surprisingly good. Georgetown gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. The Raiders' offense rang up 42 shots on Mississauga's net. Georgetown bested its season scoring average. The Raiders have scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Georgetown was led by Alex Botten, who registered two goals and one assist. Botten scored the first of his two goals at 3:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Anthony Marra provided the assist. Botten's next tally made the score 4-0 Georgetown with 1:50 left in the second period. The Raiders had taken the advantage when the Chargers' Vince Figliomeni got sent off for slashing. Liam Clare picked up the assist. Georgetown additionally got points from Jacob Bauchman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Georgetown included Steve Hladin, who had two and John Adams and Phil Kiss, who scored one goal each. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Adam Nanji, who had two and Tyler MacPherson, David Miller, Brendan Woods, Alex Adams, and Robbie Murden, who each chipped in one.

Mississauga could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Chargers average 3.5 goals per game. Mississauga's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Georgetown's power play unit.

Wilson rejected 27 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Chargers' Alex Lepore stopped 35 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Mississauga incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
