Mississauga outlasts Oakville, 5-3

The Mississauga Chargers and the Oakville Blades were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Mississauga made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ross Sloan secured the win for the Chargers with a goal in the third period.

Cosimo Fontana had a great game for Mississauga, netting two goals. Fontana found the back of the net 8:29 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Mississauga and again while 19:59 into the third to make the score 5-3 Mississauga.

The Chargers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Oakville power plays.

Mississauga also got points from Ryan Hunter, who also had one goal and one assist and Sloan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mississauga also got a goal from Matthew Hore as well. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Zackery Landsfield, who had two and Trevor Warnaar, Vince Figliomeni, and Mitchell Mehling, who contributed one a piece.

Oakville stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chargers were unable to stop the Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Oakville eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

The Blades were helped by Rory Bell, who registered one goal. Bell scored 12:12 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Mississauga. Sean Perichak assisted on the tally. Matt Alvaro also scored for Oakville. More assists for Oakville came via Stefan Leblanc, who had two and Nathan Renouf, Jonah Renouf, and Vince Palermo, who each chipped in one.

Alex Lepore made 40 saves for Mississauga on 43 shots. The Chargers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Evan Buitenhuis rejected 12 shots on goal for Oakville. The Blades incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
