Chore's goals lift Oakville to 3-1 victory over BuffaloHSBC Arena Wed, Feb 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Patrick Chore had two goals to lead the Oakville Blades to a 3-1 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. Chore scored at 19:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 3:22 into the third to make the score 2-1 Oakville.Buffalo was stymied by Oakville netminder Spencer Bacon, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. Bacon managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.76 prior to the game. The Blades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Sabres to score on any of their three power plays. Oakville also got a goal from Matt Alvaro as well. More assists for Oakville came via Rory Bell, who had one and Nathan Renouf and Jonah Renouf, who each chipped in two. Buffalo's offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Sabres average 4.5 goals per game. Oakville was unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Sabres eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Buffalo was led by Tyler Gjurich, who scored the team's only goal. Gjurich scored 2:45 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Ryan Schmelzer assisted on the tally. The Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Parker Gahagen made 26 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 29 shots. Buffalo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
