Loparco's hat trick boosts North York over Hamilton, 11-0

The Hamilton Red Wings could not stop the North York Rangers' Franco Loparco, who tallied a hat trick in an 11-0 win.

Loparco got on the scoresheet 5:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:08 into the first and at 19:02 into the third.

North York gained an early advantage, leading 6-0 by the end of the first period.

Keogh Jacob spearheaded the defensive effort for the Rangers, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 34 saves for the shutout. Jacob certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.19 entering the contest.

North York's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Hamilton power plays. The Rangers forced Hamilton goalie Bret Gilmore to work between the pipes, taking 60 shots. North York surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Rangers have scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

North York also got points from Patrick Piacentini, who also registered one goal and one assist, Fung Zachary, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Corey Kalk, who also registered one goal and one assist, and John Carpino, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Galli Austin, who had one and Liam Kerins, who had three. In addition, North York received assists from Patrick Simmonds, who had two, Chris Aitcheson, who had five, and Valadao Adam, Ryan Kinsella, Dana Tenenbaum, Taylor Pryce, Scott Maguire, and Matthew Whittaker, who each chipped in one.

The Red Wings were held below their usual level of production. Hamilton averages 2.9 goals per game. North York was unable to stop the Red Wings from sending pucks towards the net, and Hamilton eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gilmore recorded 49 saves for the Red Wings. Hamilton ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Red Wings, Harrison Luce and Liam Bird were ejected from the contest.
