Wellington beats Whitby 2-0 as Lavigne gains shutoutIroquois - Rink#1 Sun, Jan 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Hayden Lavigne was superb between the pipes for the Wellington Dukes, as he did not allow a goal in a 2-0 victory over the Whitby Fury. Wellington was paced by Parker Wood, who had one goal. Wood scored 14:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Craig Campbell assisted on the tally. The Dukes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Wellington's defensive play was more effective than usual against Whitby. The Dukes allow 2.7 goals per game. Wellington forced the Fury goalie Tyler Feaver to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Jan Kaminsky also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Jacob Hetherington and Kyle Paat, who each chipped in one. Whitby could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Fury average 3.1 goals per game. Whitby's offense rang up 35 shots on the Dukes' net. The Fury could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Hayden Lavigne made 35 saves for Wellington on 35 shots. The Dukes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Whitby's Feaver stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced.
