Cammalleri's big game bests Hamilton in 9-2 Toronto win

The Toronto Junior Canadiens' Robert Cammalleri had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 9-2 win over the Hamilton Red Wings.

Cammalleri got on the board by slotting home a goal 8:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Jarzabek assisted on the tally. Cammalleri dished an assist on Joshua Decosta's goal that made the score 7-2 Toronto at 11:43 into the third period. He added another helper on Connor Prudames's goal that made the score 9-2 Toronto at 18:18 into the third period.

Toronto's penalty kill excelled, as the Junior Canadiens gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Toronto made Hamilton's netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 53 shots and forcing 44 saves. Bret Gilmore made 43 stops and Stevenson (APM) Staids made one. The Junior Canadiens stifled the Red Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto's goal total was higher than its season average. The Junior Canadiens have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Toronto additionally got points from Matthew Nosella, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Prudames, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Jarzabek, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Toronto also had goals scored by Adam Logozzo, who had two and Aaron Thow and Jordan Carvalho, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toronto received assists from Mark Spadafora, Aaron Spivak, Travis Hill, Anthony Repaci, and Joseph Santino, who each chipped in one and Danny Liscio and Gregory Di Tomaso, who contributed two a piece.

Hamilton forced Junior Canadiens' goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 31 shots and forcing 29 saves. Denny Dubblestyne made 28 stops and Mike AP Bullion made one.

The Red Wings were helped by Chris Micallef, who finished with one goal. Micallef scored 48 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Denis Fontyn picked up the assist. Hamilton also got a goal from Troy Crema as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Braxton Andrews and Patrice Fozo, who each chipped in one.

Toronto incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Hamilton incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
