St. Michaels wins tough contest against Toronto, 3-2Chesswood Arena Sun, Jan 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Michaels Buzzers and the Toronto Junior Canadiens were evenly matched throughout their contest, but St. Michaels made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jake Evans secured the win for the Buzzers with a goal in the third period. St. Michaels was led by Evans, who registered one goal. Evans scored on the power play 1:06 into the third period to make the score 3-2 St. Michaels. Michael Neville provided the assist. The Buzzers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Toronto power plays. St. Michaels' offense rang up 45 shots on Toronto's net. St. Michaels also got points from Troy Josephs, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. CJ Shugart also scored for St. Michaels. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Jake Clements, David Italiano, Joseph Berton, and Tom Haley, who contributed one a piece. The Buzzers were unable to stop the Junior Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Junior Canadiens were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 18 penalty minutes. Toronto was led by Dalton APM Hnatko, who finished with one goal and one assist. APM Hnatko scored 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto. Daniel Lombardi assisted on the tally. Toronto also got a goal from Mark Spadafora as well. More assists for Toronto came via Danny Liscio and Aaron Spivak, who each chipped in one. Adrian Ignagni recorded 34 saves for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Junior Canadiens' Denny Dubblestyne stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced.
