Georgetown holds on for 2-1 win against Toronto

The Georgetown Raiders survived a determined comeback attempt by the Toronto Junior Canadiens on the way to a 2-1 win.

A goal by Steve Hladin put Georgetown up 2-0 in the second period, but Toronto pulled to within one on Nicholas Jarzabek's tally 5:16 into the third period.

Hladin had two goals to lead the Raiders to victory.

Georgetown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Canadiens to score on any of their three power plays. The Raiders kept Toronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Denny Dubblestyne made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Brendan Woods, who had two and Liam Clare and Phil Kiss, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Canadiens did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Toronto averages 3.2 goals per game. Georgetown was unable to stop the Junior Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

More assists for Toronto came via Connor Prudames, who had one.

Gabe Grunwald made 30 saves for the Raiders on 31 shots. Georgetown incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Junior Canadiens incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
