Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Michaels Buzzers defeated the Toronto Junior Canadiens in a shootout 6-5 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams.St. Michaels came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Buzzers fell behind 5-3 after a goal by Toronto's Cody Thompson at 11:50 in the third period. St. Michaels knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Troy Josephs at 15:11 in the third period. Matt Buckles had a great game for the Buzzers, netting two goals. Buckles' tallies came on the power play at 2:28 into the third period to make the score 3-3 and 14:36 into the third to make the score 5-4 Toronto. St. Michaels made the Junior Canadiens' goaltenders to work all game long, getting 44 shots and forcing 38 saves. Nathan Colitto made 11 stops and Denny Dubblestyne made 27. The Buzzers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Michaels averages 3.9 goals per game. St. Michaels also got points from Jake Evans, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Matt Pepler also scored for St. Michaels. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Mitch Marner, who had two and Jared Walsh, David Italiano, Joseph Berton, and Patrick McCarron, who contributed one a piece. Toronto racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Junior Canadiens had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Toronto forced the Buzzers goalie Adrian Ignagni to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Junior Canadiens bested their season scoring average. Toronto has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The Junior Canadiens were helped by Anthony Repaci, who grabbed two goals and two assists. Repaci scored the first of his two goals at 9:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Aaron Spivak assisted on the tally. Repaci's next tally made the score 4-3 Toronto with 11:19 left in the third period. Spivak picked up the assist. Toronto additionally got points from Thompson, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Toronto also got a goal from Danny Liscio as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Aaron Thow, Mark Spadafora, and Adam Logozzo, who each chipped in one. St. Michaels' Ignagni stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Buzzers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For St. Michaels, Jordan Schneider was ejected from the game. Toronto registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. The Junior Canadiens ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Prudames was ejected from the game.
