Georgetown rides Grunwald to victory over Buffalo, 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Gabe Grunwald helped the Georgetown Raiders defeat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 4-1.

Georgetown's penalty kill excelled, as the Raiders gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Georgetown was paced by Anthony Marra, who racked up one goal. Marra scored 17:38 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Liam Clare provided the assist.

The Raiders forced Buffalo goalie Parker Gahagen to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Others who scored for Georgetown included Nicholas Dozzi, who had one and Brendan Woods, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were David Miller, who had two and Michael Stevens and Robbie Murden, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Sabres excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Buffalo could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr. Sabres put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game.

Buffalo was led by Nolan Sheeran, who scored the team's only goal. Sheeran scored on the power play 14:35 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Georgetown. A slashing penalty on Woods had put the Jr. Sabres on the power play. Tim Kielich assisted on the tally.

Grunwald rejected 25 shots on goal for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Riley Dunda was ejected from the game. Gahagen recorded 30 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
