Wellington vanquishes Trenton in shootout, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wellington Dukes defeated the Trenton Golden Hawks in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.

Wellington overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Dukes fell behind 1-0 after a goal by Trenton's Mike Nedoszytko at 2:43 in the first period. Wellington tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Parker Wood at 25 seconds in the third period.

The Golden Hawks were stymied by the Dukes netminder Matt Larose, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Larose managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.37 prior to the game.

Wellington stifled Trenton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

In addition, Wellington received assists from Josh Finkelstein and Kyle Paat, who contributed one a piece.

The Golden Hawks' offense operated below they season average. Trenton averages 3.3 goals per game. The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 32 shots on the Dukes' net.

More assists for Trenton came via Sammy Banga, who had one.

Wellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Victor Adamo took the sol and made 27 saves before being replaced by Andrew Winsor who made zero saves. Trenton incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
