Hart's big game bests Hamilton in 8-1 Georgetown win

Behind a great game by Drake Hart, who had one goal and two assists, the Georgetown Raiders defeated the Hamilton Red Wings, 8-1.

Hart scored 4:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Robbie Murden provided the assist. Hart dished an assist on Brendan Woods' goal that made the score 5-1 Georgetown at 3:34 into the second period. He added another helper on David Miller's goal that made the score 7-1 Georgetown at 9:31 into the second period.

Hamilton's power play was ineffective against Georgetown's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Raiders stifled the Red Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown forced Hamilton goalie Jason Pucciarelli to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. The Raiders' goal total was higher than their season average. Georgetown averages 3.3 goals per game.

Georgetown additionally got points from Miller, who also registered two goals and one assist, Woods, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Anthony Marra, who also had one goal and one assist. Steve Hladin also scored for Georgetown. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Liam Clare, who had two and Tyler MacPherson, Jake Emilio, Santino Centorame, and Michael Stevens, who each chipped in one.

The Red Wings' penalty kill managed to stymie the Raiders' power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down. Hamilton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Red Wings were led by Jordan Merante, who scored the team's only goal. Merante scored 18:14 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Georgetown. Troy Crema picked up the assist.

Daniel Mannella recorded 18 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Hamilton's Pucciarelli stopped 38 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Red Wings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joey Benitah was ejected from the game.
