Buffalo survives Toronto Lakeshore comeback, wins 5-4

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Buffalo Jr. Sabres would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

Buffalo made the score 5-2 on a goal by Max Mikowski at 7:07 in the third period, and Toronto Lakeshore got as close as 5-4 when Wes Deme scored 19:08 into the third period.

Mikowski had a great game for the Jr. Sabres, netting two goals.

Buffalo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Toronto Lakeshore power plays.

Buffalo additionally got points from Tyler Gjurich, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Tim Kielich, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Nolan Sheeran, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Buffalo came via Ryan Schmelzer, Josh Kielich, Dylan Howatt, and Pat Egan, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Lakeshore eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

The Patriots were led by Daniel Tedesco, who racked up two goals. Tedesco scored the first of his two goals at 6:09 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Deme assisted on the tally. Tedesco's next tally made the score 2-2 with 3:31 left in the first period. Marcus Rose provided the assist. Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Deme, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. William Seligman also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Nathan Feric, Doug Bonar, and Michael Apreda, who each chipped in one.

Parker Gahagen rejected 42 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Buffalo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and David Seward was ejected from the game. Stormer Santana took the loss and made 11 saves before being replaced by Joseph Pianta who made six saves. Toronto Lakeshore incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
