Powers, Savory lead Stouffville over Wellington, 7-4

Behind one goal and two assists from Robert Powers and two goals and one assist from Dylan Savory, the Stouffville Spirit downed the Wellington Dukes 7-4.

Powers scored on the power play 12:28 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Stouffville. Stouffville had gotten the advantage when Wellington's Kyle Paat was sent off for elbowing. Alex Botten picked up the assist. Savory scored the first of his two goals at 10:36 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Stouffville. Powers assisted on the tally. Savory's next tally made the score 4-2 Stouffville with 6:41 left in the second period. Botten provided the assist.

The Spirit's penalty kill excelled, as Stouffville gave up one goal despite allowing 12 power plays.

The Spirit kept the Dukes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Larose made 37 saves on 44 shots. Stouffville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Spirit average 3.2 goals per game. Stouffville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stouffville also got points from Botten, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Savory, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Jacob Bauchman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Justin Wain also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Josh Carrick, Matthew Heffernan, Nathanael Halbert, Chad Burrows, Michael Morgan, and Matthew Dunlop, who each chipped in one.

Wellington forced the Spirit goalie Braydon Banitsiotis to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

The Dukes were led by Craig Campbell, who had two goals. Campbell scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A high sticking penalty on Morgan had put Wellington on the power play. Jan Kaminsky picked up the assist. Campbell's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Stouffville with 15:16 left in the third period. Kaminsky provided the assist. Wellington additionally got points from Parker Wood, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wellington also got a goal from Mike Soucier as well. More assists for Wellington came via Evan Erickson, Josh Finkelstein, Abbot Girduckis, and Colman Foisey, who contributed one a piece.

Braydon Banitsiotis made 37 saves for Stouffville on 41 shots. The Spirit registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Dukes incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Wellington, Brody Morris was ejected from the game.
