Georgetown wins tough contest against North York, 3-2Mold-Master SportsPlex Sat, Oct 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Georgetown Raiders gutted out a close 3-2 win against the North York Rangers. Georgetown gained the winning advantage on a goal by Brendan Woods 11:54 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Raiders were paced by Woods, who tallied one goal and one assist. North York was unable to stop Georgetown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Steve Hladin also scored for Georgetown. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Thomas Welsh, who had two and Alex Adams, Nick Perruccio, and Anthony Marra, who each chipped in one. The Rangers were helped by Corey Kalk, who had one goal. Kalk scored on the power play 2:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York. North York earned a power play opportunity when Tyler MacPherson was put in the box for slashing. Michael Giacometti picked up the assist. North York also got a goal from Ryan Kinsella as well. In addition, North York received assists from Patrick Piacentini, Chris Aitcheson, and Taylor Pryce, who contributed one a piece. Daniel Mannella recorded 16 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Keogh Jacob made 31 saves for the Rangers on 34 shots. North York incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
