Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pickering Panthers defeated the Newmarket Hurricanes in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. Newmarket got a shootout goal from Calvin Higley. Pickering also got a shootout goal from Robert Lepine.The Panthers overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pickering was down 3-0 after a goal by the Hurricanes' Daniel Leavens at 4:28 in the second period. The Panthers tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Lepine at 19:36 in the third period. Pickering was helped by Brodie Tutton, who racked up one goal. Tutton scored 4:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Newmarket. Cody Doiron provided the assist. Pickering also got points from Lepine, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Pickering also got a goal from Dylan Hutton as well.
