McWhinney, Huntsville blank Augusta, 4-0

Dan McWhinney was superb between the pipes for the Huntsville Havoc, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Augusta RiverHawks.

Huntsville was paced by Corey Fulton, who racked up one goal. Fulton scored 13:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Ray Ortiz provided the assist.

The Havoc stifled Augusta's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Huntsville's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 13 shots on net during the game. The Havoc's offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.2 shots per game they average.

Huntsville additionally got points from Ortiz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Bryant Doerrsam as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Colin Reddin and Shane Hart, who each chipped in one and Stuart Stefan and Aaron McGill, who contributed two a piece.

The RiverHawks' offense rang up 46 shots on Huntsville's net.

Augusta was led by Chad Ziegler, who took six shots.

McWhinney rejected 46 shots on goal for the Havoc. Huntsville totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. BJ OBrien recorded 28 saves for the RiverHawks. Augusta totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
