Suffolk Juniors holds on for 4-2 win against Jersey Wildcats

Jersey Wildcats tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but Suffolk Juniors held on for a 4-2 victory.

Suffolk Juniors took a 4-0 lead during the third period, only to have Jersey Wildcats storm back on a Corey Carnahan goal 19:55 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Jersey Wildcats was unable to stop Suffolk Juniors from sending pucks towards the net, and Suffolk Juniors eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Suffolk Juniors cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. Suffolk Juniors' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Suffolk Juniors finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Suffolk Juniors was helped by Michael Gioia, who registered one goal. Gioia scored 10:55 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Suffolk Juniors. Steven Azzara provided the assist. Suffolk Juniors also got points from Anthony Modica, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Daniel Lore, who also had one goal and one assist. Joseph Bizzaro also scored for Suffolk Juniors. Other players who recorded assists for Suffolk Juniors were Michael Vaiano, who had two.

Jersey Wildcats forced Suffolk Juniors goalie Anthony Pupplo to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Jersey Wildcats was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Jersey Wildcats also got a goal from Kyle Davey as well. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Thomas Brennan, Michael Matos, and Nicholas Hermann, who contributed one a piece.

Pupplo rejected 31 shots on goal for Suffolk Juniors. Nathan Leo recorded 29 saves for Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
