New York Apple Core beats Frederick Freeze 2-1 after comeback scare

New York Apple Core survived a determined comeback attempt by Frederick Freeze on the way to a 2-1 win.

New York Apple Core took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Frederick Freeze storm back on a Alexander Olson goal 3:19 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

New York Apple Core was led by goalie Madison Martin, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Martin certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.43 entering the contest.

New York Apple Core was sparked by Brian OSullivan, who racked up one goal. OSullivan scored on the power play 5:49 into the second period to make the score New York Apple Core. New York Apple Core had taken the advantage when Frederick Freeze's Denzil Cotera got sent off for tripping. Thomas McGovern picked up the assist.

New York Apple Core stifled Frederick Freeze's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New York Apple Core could not produce up to it normal offensive output. New York Apple Core puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game.

Nikolas Boesenberg also scored for New York Apple Core. Other players who recorded assists for New York Apple Core were James Loglisci, Sam Soifer, and Brandon Blair, who contributed one a piece.

In addition, Frederick Freeze received assists from Anthony Palermino, who had one.

New York Apple Core totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Nicholas Holencik rejected 25 shots on goal for Frederick Freeze. Frederick Freeze incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
