Suffolk Juniors outlasts New York Apple Core, 5-3Brooklyn Aviator Rink Sun, Feb 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between Suffolk Juniors and New York Apple Core was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Suffolk Juniors emerged with a 5-3 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Michael Vaiano's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Charles Peck had a great game for Suffolk Juniors, netting two goals. Peck's tallies came at 1:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Suffolk Juniors and 12:03 into the second to make the score 4-2 Suffolk Juniors. New York Apple Core's power play was ineffective against Suffolk Juniors' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Suffolk Juniors was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 32 penalty minutes. Joseph Quinn also scored for Suffolk Juniors. In addition, Suffolk Juniors received assists from Salvatore Geraci, who had two and Axl Frisina and Daniel Lore, who each chipped in one. More assists for New York Apple Core came via Phil Laurelli, who had one and Brian OSullivan, who had two. Anthony Pupplo rejected 27 shots on goal for Suffolk Juniors. New York Apple Core's starting goalie, Madison Martin, made 13 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dominic Lamanno, who stopped 12 shots. New York Apple Core incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
