Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Jersey Wildcats defeated Frederick Freeze in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Jersey Wildcats' offense rang up 60 shots on Frederick Freeze's net. Jersey Wildcats was led by Nicholas Hermann, who racked up two goals. Hermann scored the first of his two goals at 7:42 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Austin Gordon assisted on the tally. Hermann's next tally made the score 3-2 Jersey Wildcats with 3:21 left in the second period. Gordon picked up the assist. Jersey Wildcats also got a goal from Alex Kempinski as well. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Connor Hoarty, Austin Nye, Thomas Brennan, Michael Matos, and Carmine Taffo, who contributed one a piece. Frederick Freeze's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Jersey Wildcats power plays. Frederick Freeze forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Peter Andersson to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. Frederick Freeze was led by Taylor Powell, who tallied two goals and one assist. Powell scored the first of his two goals at 6:03 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Powell's next tally made the score 4-4 with 6:01 left in the third period. Frederick Freeze had gained a power play chance when Hoarty was whistled for tripping. Nathan Miller assisted on the tally.
