Junior Bruins penalty kill dominates in 6-2 defeat of Bay State Breakers

Bay State Breakers failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and Junior Bruins shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2.

Junior Bruins was paced by Jake McKinnon, who had one goal and one assist. McKinnon scored 17:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Junior Bruins. Jordan Hanahan assisted on the tally.

Junior Bruins forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Junior Bruins had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Junior Bruins kept Bay State Breakers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kirby Saari made 32 saves on 38 shots.

Junior Bruins additionally got points from Michael Kantorski, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Junior Bruins included John Buchanan, who had two and Jonathan Panarelli and Tyler Kirby, who scored one goal each. Bay State Breakers was helped by Cameron Miglietta, who finished with one goal. Miglietta scored on the power play 16:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Junior Bruins. Bay State Breakers had gotten the advantage when Junior Bruins' Dommichael Piccini was sent off for tripping. Thomas Cahill picked up the assist. Bay State Breakers also got a goal from Bryan Bachelder as well. More assists for Bay State Breakers came via Ryan Gaucher, who had one and Cameron MacDonald, who had two.

For Junior Bruins, Gagnon was ejected from the game. Bay State Breakers registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
