Mass Maple Leafs blows out New Hampshire Jr Monarchs, 6-1

Mass Maple Leafs had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over New Hampshire Jr Monarchs.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs was stymied by Mass Maple Leafs netminder Cody Stocker, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Stocker will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.86 entering the contest.

Michael Sorenti had a great game for Mass Maple Leafs, netting two goals. Sorenti found the back of the net 16:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mass Maple Leafs and again while 12:21 into the second to make the score 5-1 Mass Maple Leafs.

Mass Maple Leafs forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Mass Maple Leafs had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Mass Maple Leafs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six New Hampshire Jr Monarchs power plays. Mass Maple Leafs forced New Hampshire Jr Monarchs goalie Ian Larson to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Joseph Fernandes, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Mass Maple Leafs also got a goal from Francis Cambria as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mass Maple Leafs were Colin Cordeiro, who had two and Samuel Jenkins, Ryan Jones, and Nicholas Menzel, who each chipped in one.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

Connor Stevens also scored for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. In addition, New Hampshire Jr Monarchs received assists from Patrick Stewart, who had one.

Ian Larson made 37 saves for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs on 43 shots. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
